Every Passing Minute

Do I get up for work
or is Nightline on?
Hear the shower running
Do I have a roommate?
I look in the fridge
but the light’s gone out
I would go back to sleep
But I’m already there.

Every passing minute
is another chance

The bodysnatchers came
Took their Ipod back.
See me on youtube
I’m wired and I’m fried.
I Tivo’ed Lost,
And I found that number,
to the hotline where they
talk you out of
pulling the plug.

Every passing minute
is another chance

Once I knew a woman
Once I flew on the wind
Every passing minute
is another chance
Once there was an ocean
and her eyes were blue
Another chance
to turn it around.

Like a black spiral staircase
keeps a’leading me down
I can’t see the bottom
But I hear it’s Hell
The stairs are slick
there’s no rail to grab
How can I catch myself
when I already fell?

Every passing minute
is another chance
Every passing minute
is another chance
Every passing minute
is another chance
To turn
To turn it
To turn it around.
